Andrew Roy Gibb was born on 5 March 1958 at Stretford Memorial Hospital in Stretford, Lancashire.[5] He was the youngest of five children born to Barbara and Hugh Gibb. His mother was of Irish and English descent, and his father was of Scottish and English descent.[6] He had four siblings: his sister, Lesley Evans; and three brothers—Barry and fraternal twins Robin and Maurice. At the age of six months, Andy Gibb emigrated with his family to Queensland, Australia, settling on Cribb Island just north of Brisbane. After moving several times between Brisbane and Sydney, Andy returned to the United Kingdom in January 1967 as his three older brothers began to gain international fame as the Bee Gees. In his childhood, his mother, Barbara, described Andy as "A little devil, a little monster. I'd send him off to school, but he'd sneak off to the stable and sleep with his two horses all day. He'd wander back home around lunchtime smelling of horse manure, yet he'd swear he had been at school. Oh, he was a little monkey!"
He quit school at the age of 13, and with an acoustic guitar given to him by his older brother Barry, he began playing at tourist clubs around Ibiza, Spain (when his parents moved there) and later on the Isle of Man, his brothers' birthplace, where his parents were living at the time. In June 1974, Gibb formed his first group, Melody Fayre (named after a Bee Gees song), which included Isle of Man musicians John Alderson on guitar, Stan Hughes on bass, and John Stringer on drums. The group was managed by Andy's mother, Barbara, and had regular bookings on the small island's hotel circuit. Gibb's first recording, in August 1973, was a Maurice Gibb composition, "My Father Was a Rebel", which Maurice also produced and played on. It was not released. Another track on the session performed by him was "Windows of My World," co-written by him and Maurice. At the urging of his brother Barry, Gibb returned to Australia in 1974. Barry believed that, because Australia had been a good training ground for the Bee Gees, it would also help his youngest brother. Lesley Gibb had remained in Australia, where she raised a family with her husband. Both Alderson and Stringer followed Andy to Australia with the hope of forming a band there. With Col Joye producing, Andy, Alderson, and Stringer recorded a number of Andy's compositions. The first song was a demo called "To a Girl" (with his brother Maurice playing organ), which he later performed on his television debut in Australia on The Ernie Sigley Show. Sigley later informed the audience that it was from Gibb's forthcoming album, but it was never released. In November of the same year, he recorded six demos—again produced by Joye—including "Words and Music", "Westfield Mansions", and "Flowing Rivers" (which was later released). What may have detracted from the "training ground" aspect of Australia for Andy compared with his brothers was that Andy was relatively independent financially, mainly because of his brothers' support and their largesse; hence, the group's sporadic work rate. Andy would disappear for periods of time, leaving Alderson and Stringer out of work with no income. Despondent, Alderson and Stringer returned to the UK.

Chris Rea, Rod Stewart, Lionel Richie, Chris Isaak, Tina Turner, SadeHaving a large personal collection of music, I always noticed the extra pleasure of hearing a favourite track play on the radio, or in some cafe, or the beach, or any other place.
This observation led to an idea—at first glance a non-trivial one—launching a personal radio stream! The initial audience was meant to be myself, and others close in their musical tastes (and otherwise).
The obvious pluses, differentiating this solution from listening to files stored on the computer, radio, or other sources:
1. Autonomy. There’s no need to choose, launch, download, select, etc. At a maximum, it’s opening a window and pressing play. 2. You never know what song is next—the element of surprise, just like on the radio—but you know for sure that it’ll be a good one (everything in the rotation is chosen by you). 3. Good distribution of song playback—no more “overlistening”. 4. No advertising, news, entertainment shows, just music. 5. Ability for everyone who is interested to listen simultaneously, and the location and time of day don’t make any difference. The only requirements is access to the internet.
So, based on these general attitudes, in August 2011, TrueColors Radio was started. The only problem of that moment was solved. That would have been a satisfactory place to stop.
But, I was lucky, and a certain amount of listeners from my circles started to show initiative with adding musical and related organizational suggestions. This was unexpected, and another new, significant result appeared: familiarity with a ton of new music, all matching a certain taste.
This, I can say with certainty, is very valuable. From experience in past years, for every year of listening to music available from different sources, my collection was growing by maybe a few dozen new tracks that were new to me. In the previous year of TrueColors Radio I heard several hundred tracks, which match 100% with my musical coordinate system.
I value this breakthrough greatly, and am very grateful to the people who spend a lot of their time researching and suggesting a variety of tracks, selecting them with accordance to the main criteria they’re familiar with. This possibility of mutual enrichment is the second serious result achieved thanks to TrueColors.
What next? The time is ripe to set another high goal, on a social scale. Here, the possibility of reaching the goal doesn’t have key importance, since, as a very respected professor in university said, distant, perhaps unachievable goals allow for setting of the right direction of growth, and it’s not too important if the goals themselves are reached in the end.
With respect to radio, the idea is simple: the listener, hooked by a long-known song, with further listening will open themselves to a lot of novelty collected on the station, and perhaps will bring something of their own.
In this fashion they will see a widening of their musical engagement and maybe even more—the improvement in the quality of their taste! This is that distant and noble goal.
We’ll see, to what degree our team can realize it.
Welcome and stay with us. Alexandre Gritsouk.

04.10.2012Design and copywriting of everything you see on TrueColors Radio are the result of Olesya’s participation in the project. In addition, all tasks related to the branding and the accompanying graphic decisions (from cards to car stickers) fall on her fragile shoulders.
Here we really made use of her skills and experience, developed during her studies to be a designer and work at a PR agency as well as her obvious intuition and creativity.

Secondly, the possibility of influencing the repertoire by any of the listeners; with the help of recommendations to include a particular song in the track list, as well as with the help of likes/dislikes for the ones already in it.
Most importantly: the music. The music is of various styles and epochs but united by something that doesn’t have a concrete definition; possibly the melody, maybe the quality of the performance, or maybe it just rings in unison with the strings in our souls, which reflect our views on life.

02.09.2011Specifically, the entire interface including display of information about the tracks (cover, comments, lyrics), voting and charts, recommendations, the content management system, and much of the other functionality that highlights your visit to the TrueColors Radio was developed and implemented by Alexander.
Results like these are possible for a graduate of a relevant faculty, having work experience with internet technologies, not being too distracted by the musical component of the project. After all, someone has to solve the strictly technical problem, not float in the musical clouds, as many other members of the TrueColors Radio team typically do.
We’ll gladly consider your musical recommendations and other suggestions! To do this it isn’t necessary to register! It’s enough to add your name, the message (name of the song) and the verification code.
Recommendations chart
It’s easy to determine the chances that a certain composition will be added, simply by listening to the station for a few hours. It’s even faster to get oriented by looking through the TOP100 tracks.
Three main criteria:
1) The song should be melodic! The simplest sign of the melodic quality of a composition: desire to sing along. Or, as a minimum, when the song stops the tune should be easily continued in the mind.
2) Of course melodic songs exist in any genre, but the track must follow our station’s format. The format is limited from different sides with a few main directions: soul, funk, rock, disco, blues, reggae and other relatively calm genres. The most important thing is to avoid extremes: metal, heavy rock, rap,"chanson", opera, and other styles will unfortunately stick out from the main direction even with a bright melody.
3) Good quality! A lot of great music, recorded mainly before the 60s, doesn’t have the quality of modern sound recording. This can be taken as motivation to find a good cover.
All recommended compositions are stored in the music database of the radio and may be played on-air at any moment, but sometimes this happens with a significant delay.
After the decision is made, a composition is put on-air and appears in the TOP/30/100 section of recent additions.
If a composition was added on the station but attributed to another recommender it means it was recommended by them before you.
